What’s the story?

Video tells a story for newsroom recruiting

Aimed at high school juniors and seniors, the video is a fast-paced look at the world of journalism, narrated by a diverse group of successful young journalists who are enthusiastic about their career choice.

“What’s the Story?” is an 11-minute video produced by the Freedom Forum to introduce young people to careers in newspaper journalism.

At the end of the video, students are directed to an American Society of Newspaper Editors web site that offers career information and resources for high school students.

A useful instructional tool for journalism teachers, newspaper advisers and school counselors, the video also is a valuable recruiting tool for newspaper editors.

Copies of the video — with accompanying material on newspaper careers — are available free for recruiting efforts. To obtain a copy, contact Javiera Ihrig at 202/292-6274 or jihrig@freedomforum.org.
